“Lines & Layers: readable image, space and texture”

Throughout the many exhibits East Lansing artist, Kate Darnell, has staged at Mackerel Sky during the past two decades, she continues to intrigue, dazzle and delight us with simply complex images layered with literary allusions. It is appropriate to describe her work, even for a visual medium, as “More than meets the eye” in challenging one to ponder while pleasuring in the image.
A truly full time working artist, Kate teaches, illustrates children’s books, is a professional calligrapher and illustrator, commercial and fine artist. Her gentle, thoughtful, humorous demeanor is apparent in her art. It is always a pleasure and honor to represent her here. We encourage you to enjoy this collection during the two months it will be available for view.
